Gazetted in 1970 and covering 2,850 km², Tarangire National Park is a standout safari destination in northern Tanzania, famed for its incredible density of wildlife especially African elephants. During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a vital lifeline, drawing large herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and predators like lions and cheetahs to its banks. This seasonal congregation creates an exceptional game-viewing experience, further enriched by the park’s iconic baobab trees, ancient and towering, as well as abandoned termite mounds that provide shelter for creatures like dwarf mongoose, pangolins, and reptiles.
